Konstantinos Dimopoulos

Your Instructor:
Konstantinos Dimopoulos is an engineer, educator, game urbanist and designer with a PhD in urbanism. He is the author of the Virtual Cities atlas, and has contributed chapters and articles to publications such as Retro Gamer magazine and books like Game Writing: 2nd Edition. He has been working professionally in video games since 2010, has worked with tabletop studios like Edge of Mythos and Tuesday Knight Games, and has been teaching about them since 2017.  [full bio]

Requirements:

Interest in tabletop RPGs is enough. Some GM/DM or player experience would be helpful. Access to Zoom is required.

Mothership, Tuesday Knight Games’ sci-fi horror RPG, is much more than an extraordinarily successful indie TTROG. It is a deeply original and brilliantly designed game that supports the creation of 3rd party commercial and hobbyist modules. 

In this course, you will be introduced both to the world of indie TTRPGs, and to the world of Mothership. You will also get to experience a designer-focused online one-shot session of Mothership, meant to help you understand the mood, flow, atmosphere, mechanics, and structure of the game. 

Following the opening workshop, we shall explore the ways in which Mothership adventure modules tend to be designed, study the TOMBS structure, and analyse existing adventures. Additionally, we shall look into the writing of NPCs, the sketching out of plots, and the organising of adaptive stories, before actually starting working on your own, complete adventure module for Mothership. 

The workshops shall be completed with the presentation, discussion, and feedback session on each learner’s work. It is this course’s goal that, by its end, everyone attending will have created their own, quality Mothership Sci-Fi Horror RPG module.
